Two sex-obsessed guys watch a spy-cam trained on guests in a DIY Airbnb. They wind
up witnessing murder -- and get lured in, when the people who are spied on turn the tables.
SYNOPSIS:
LAUREN, in her 20s, drives through a city to a house in the woods to meet her lover JAMESON, who is a little older. He gives her a “grand tour.” She asks if it’s an Airbnb; he says “Something like that.” On this almost-honeymoon-like retreat, he pours champagne and leads her to the bedroom. He talks of their future: how he’s ready to commit. Lauren is cagey, skeptical. He says he’ll fulfill her fantasies and has surprises lined up for the weekend. She says she has one, too.
A spy camera films both of them. Then, they appear on the big TV screen of COLE, 30s, who watches with his friend MONROE, 20s. They eat popcorn, drink beer and, as Lauren and Jameson talk, Cole asks if Monroe is impressed by the set-up. Monroe says Airbnb’s already creep him out with possible hidden cameras. “This is my worst fucking nightmare.” They discuss how Cole makes money with the house, though it’s not his only source of income. Sometimes guys pay him to film them with their girlfriends when they sense a breakup is coming: revenge porn in advance. Leverage in custody battles and alimony fights. And uploading these clips can bring in money; a lot of guys like to watch them. Cole says he has cameras all over the house; some really kinky stuff happens in the shower. He has a “mix-tape” of footage of different couples. Meanwhile, back in the house, Jameson says Lauren has been sounding suspicious and bitter; he hopes her “surprise” is that she’s ready to move on and put the bad stuff behind them.
At a Mexican restaurant, SAGE and BRIANNA, two friends of Lauren’s, talk about how Lauren is moving to town. Sage wants to know if Brianna is going to admit to Lauren that Brianna has been sleeping with Jameson. Brianna says what Lauren doesn’t know won’t hurt her – about Brianna or about Sage. Sage says she slept with Jameson when he and Lauren were broken up and Jameson was hanging out in this city, and he lied and said Lauren had gotten with Sage’s ex, Leon. When Sage saw that Jameson and Lauren were back together, in pictures on social media from their old hometown, she told him where to go. That’s different from Brianna sleeping with Jameson while knowing that he’s the boyfriend of her old friend Lauren! But Brianna tells Sage that Sage is not as righteous and innocent as she acts, so she should back the fuck off.
Back at the house, Jameson presents Lauren with expensive, lacy lingerie. He says he wants to pamper and please her, and give her a foot massage. The spy cam covers the scene from a different angle. Then, in Cole’s apartment, Cole and Monroe yell approval that things are finally getting kinky, as they watch on TV. They salute the onscreen images with their beers.
In the restaurant, Sage asks Brianna why she ditched Jameson, if Brianna has such a ruthless philosophy of life. Brianna says the logistics were crazy, plus Jameson has a creeper friend named Cole with a house full of cameras called Casa Voyeur. Brianna didn’t like the stalker stuff, and guys filming teen girls on social media. Sage is freaked out to hear about the sextortion. She’s glad she didn’t send Jameson the nude picture he asked for. Predators like him are so low!
Lauren tells Jameson to close his eyes – and when he opens them, she’s holding a gun. Cole and Monroe, watching in the apartment, are concerned. So is Jameson. Lauren asks if Jameson has been banging her friend. She got a text saying it was “B.” Would that be Brianna? She saw texts on his phone from Brianna, saying: leave me alone. [There is a flashback to when Lauren went through his phone.] But she also saw that he’s sleeping with other women. Lauren yells that she trusted Jameson, rearranged her life, gave up her job to move here … sent him the nude pictures he asked for … He gets macho with Lauren, and she shoots him.
Cole and Monroe, watching, are freaked out. Cole does not want cops invading Casa Voyeur.
Lauren calls Sage at the restaurant, and asks her and Brianna to come to the house. Cole, in his apartment, says maybe it’s just as well Jameson is gone. He could be reckless and indiscreet. Cole agreed to let him use Casa Voyeur for this weekend in part to have dirt on Jameson. And now Cole has dirt on this attractive girl. Like he has dirt on Monroe, what with his drug habit.
Lauren leads her friends through the house. They are stunned to find Jameson in a pool of blood in the bedroom. Brianna expresses horror, and Lauren asks if Jameson meant something special to her. Brianna says she’s leaving. Lauren says: “No, actually, you’re not,” and pulls the gun. She speaks coolly, wonders aloud whether she’s in shock, and says she wants to talk to her two oldest friends … Watching them, Cole is not pleased that more people know about the murder. He observes that all three women are fine-looking … Lauren mentions the text she got about “B,” and Brianna confronts Sage about sending it. Sage has a flashback to when she got a guy who likes her to let her send the text to Lauren from his phone. She says yes, I sent the text, I didn’t think it would lead to something like this. Lauren asks Brianna to talk about earlier, sexier messages she sent Jameson. In Cole’s apartment, Monroe shouts at the screen, as at a movie: “Don’t tell her, Brianna! She’s bluffing you! She didn’t see the other messages!”
The women move to the living room. Cole switches spy cams to that room. Brianna tells Lauren that Sage also slept with Jameson. Sage tearfully admits to it. She says she’s still Lauren’s friend, and begs Lauren to remember the angry things Lauren wrote on social media when she broke up with Jameson. Sage says she’s freaked out that Lauren killed Jameson, but she has been a real friend to Lauren since they were ten. She asks Brianna why she never mentioned the revenge porn. Brianna gets hostile, over a boy she liked they disapproved of when they were all twelve. She says Jameson did film his sex with Sage, and had nude shots of Lauren. She tries to leave – and Lauren shoots her. Blood comes out of Brianna’s mouth, she collapses and dies.
Cole and Monroe freak out. Sage is terrified Lauren will shoot her also. They talk over past signs that Sage is a real friend. Lauren decides to trust her. They discuss who owns the house. Cole is not pleased to hear Lauren describe the owner as some dirtbag friend of Jameson’s. She says the house has a name like Cassovar. Sage asks: “This is Casa Voyeur?” She gets Lauren to look at her phone, and writes that they’re being watched. As the two women confer, Cole is angry, wondering what they’re doing, very close to going there and killing both of them. Lauren speaks to him directly, seductively, and gives her number. Cole is up for going over and banging the women. Monroe says it’s nasty, two bodies, blood, they could get killed … When the two men do go to Casa Voyeur, striking things happen with the strong women that they do not expect.
