By Gordon Milburn

GENRE: Adventure
LOGLINE: A cavalier diver on a treasure hunt reawakens the ghosts of a sunken World War 2 Japanese battleship. The Admiral pursues the diver threatening his life and that of his nephew and niece unless the swords are returned.

SYNOPSIS:

In Matai Bay a family relaxes, enjoying a holiday. Father JACK, mother MARIE, son, BRYCE, and daughter, SAMANTHA. They spend considerable time with their uncle, RICHARD, Jack’s younger brother. He teases the children but they love and respect him, especially when story time arrives. Jack is a treasure hunter and always has a new adventure to discuss. When the family settles down by fireside at the end of a long day Jack asks Richard to relate his newest tale. Richard then discusses diving for treasure near the Philippines. Though looking for gold the crew inadvertently locates a sunken Japanese battleship named the Yamashiro. Richard decides it’s worth a look anyway and finds the bridge, locating the dead ADMIRAL NISHIMURA, still standing behind the wheel, his hands clutched to it tightly. Richard is amazed and looks around, spotting swords carried by Nishimura. He decides to try and salvage the operation with a few personal mementos and takes the swords. He barely gets back to the ship after his oxygen supply is cut off but is happy with his prize. Richard finishes up his tale and then tells his brother and sister-in-law that he plans on selling the swords at the first given opportunity so he can make a few bucks. However he starts questioning everything when a storm moves in and Richard is convinced he can see the Yamashiro moving in, the Admiral after his ‘stolen’ swords. Richard plays dumb and survives the night but still fears he may be a target. The next day he goes to a pawnshop and hands them over to a PROPRIETOR to evaluate for money. Richard and the family then head out to go fishing later on and Richard almost drowns. While he is unconscious he has a vision of being back in the bridge of the Yamashiro and Admiral Nishimura warns him that he wants his swords back because they are his legacy. Richard comes to and gets rushed to the hospital. He then tells Samantha to track down Nishimura’s family in Japan while Jack and Bryce get the swords back from the pawnshop. The Proprietor plays dumb and refuses to hand the swords over to Jack. Bryce is upset and tries to track the Proprietor to his home but ends up washed away by the current in a nearby river. He almost drowns and disappears. Richard hears of this, gets out of the hospital, and tracks his nephew down to the Proprietor’s house. He passes out and visits with Nishimura again who claims responsibility for Bryce’s disappearance and warns more trouble if the swords aren’t returned. Bryce is found alive and then Richard goes to the Proprietor who once again refuses to hand them over. Then another storm moves in and the Proprietor sees the Yamashiro moving in, guns blazing. He realizes he is in trouble and hands the swords over. Richard then travels to Japan with Bryce and Samantha and they find Nishimura’s descendants and hand over the swords, restoring his legacy and the peace.
