The American writer Paul lives in Paris and works in different bars to make a living, when he meets a mysterious woman, Julia, who inspires him to his big first novel, while his friend Cecille falls in love with him and writes him secretly poems, of which he thinks they are written by Julia.

SYNOPSIS:

The American author Paul Miller seduces women in a bar in Paris and writes about his sexual adventures short stories. His french editor refuses to give him money unless he writes a romance for the female readers of his magazine. Paul agrees and starts to work as a barkeeper in the bar to pay his rent and tries to write a romance. The literary student Cecille comes with a group of students into the bar. She falls in love with Paul and wants to help him to find some romantic inspirations. When also the mysterious sexy actress Julia appears in the bar, Paul gets instantly inspired and starts to write his romantic novel. Cecille writes a romantic loveletter to him (signed "to her Romeo" ) under the name of "Julia", which he finds and thinks it is written by the actress Julia. Cecille assists him to write his romantic novel. She is in love with him but doen not tell him about it. Julia is a famous acting star who is admired by her director. He follows her everywhere. Julia asks Cecille to help her keep him off her privacy at the filmset and Cecille gets a job at the film production as her personal assistant. Paul still searches for Julia but Cecille does not tell him where she works and where Julia is to find. They even write new dialogue lines for the film in which Julia stars, because Julia is fascinated by the French culture and wants to change all her lines in the movie. Paul does not know that he writes for her film. Cecille keeps her secret. She writes another loveletter for Paul under the name of Julia to keep him inspired for his novel. Cecille and Paul go to the opera and meet Julia with her new boyfriend there. Paul is very sad and does not believe in his writing again. Cecille convinces him to finish his book, but leaves him alone because of her feelings for him, which she does not tell him. Paul´s romantic novel is finished and is very successful, the book is on the bestseller list and Paul signs his books in a little bookshop in Paris. Cecille enters the book shop and shows him her literary diploma, a little book of poems in which he finds the two poems he thought were from Julia. Paul realises that Cecille loves him and he finds out that Julia was just a construction of Hollywood and that Cecille is his real romance.He decides to stay with Cecille in Paris.
