I wonder what it is these CDs are looking for in portraying certain characters when they say Male/female age 18-199, X Character. It is so frustrating. Is it the site being used? What sites are worth using for the price you pay?

I have a pair of new character shoes that are SUPER slippery on the bottom. I'm afraid I'm going to break my ankles when my feet slide out from under me! In the past, I've done the basics of scuffing them up outside a bit, or sticking rubber "shoe grip" adhesive pads on them. Well, I've tried both on these shoes and I'm still sliding. The adhesive grips seem to work ok on the ball of the foot sole area, but the heel is still pretty slippery. I tried cutting a small bit of the grip and putting it there, but the sticky part doesn't stay and the grip just slides off as soon as I turn or slide, then I have sticky glue goo on the shoe. I'm not really a dancer (just do musical theatre, I'm more of a singer who can fake her way into dancing with practice, haha), but am trying to break them in for an upcoming audition that will have dance in it and don't want to slide to my death or look spastic! What do you all do?

My latest email response to an "agent" which I've placed in quotes because so far I've never been to an "interview" or "audition" at an "agency" in Seattle or surrounding that hasn't been a complete waste of my time because what their true title actually is/was "used car salesman or woman". Tell me if I was too snarky or improper! "Hi _______, Sure, I'll come in for an interview if you have an afternoon spot open on the 9th in Seattle! Or another date with a later time slot as I get a creative buzz typically every day just after midnight so I'm not my brightest and best if I have to do something in the morning and try to avoid it if it can at all be helped. You have to promise me though that you're not going to suggest a training program or photography package!!? I'm absolutely aware that I need to update my head shots and I would love to take an acting for film workshop or class but you would be entirely wasting both of our time because I can't afford ANY training right now as I am the epitome of a starving artists (my stomach just growled to affirm that) and I have literally a hundred friends who are professional photographers and will be acquiring that via my own arrangements (barter system). I'm also networking to come up with both a demo reel (acting) and a new promo video for my fire dancing/circus act book business right now at this very moment and considering that my top priority in order to move forward in this business. If you think you can get me some work, excellent :) Let's do it! However I am not willing to sign an exclusive contract for representation without at least a trial period determining that you are able to provide me with more work & pay than I've so far managed to book myself. Best scenario is most likely we work together under non-exclusivity as the past 10 years of living in Seattle being out there as a performer has allowed me to accumulate an extensive network of talented actors, models, dancers, DJ's, sideshow performers, and bands/musicians! I'd be a valuable asset to a growing agency as I've been contemplating going that route as soon as I determine I'm too old or burnt out but I'm not done yet with manifesting my dreams as an artist and may not give up on them ever but in the meantime I need to figure out how to set myself up to live more comfortably without the constant stress of my acquiring my most basic fundamental needs.
