GENRE: Family
LOGLINE:

A cantankerous old woman tries to help the family she once rejected, but her efforts will fail unless she can find the balance between baked goods and baseball to change things.

SYNOPSIS:

This is a low-budget family movie, the kind you might see on Hallmark or similar channels.

Bea Langley moves into a cottage owned by her daughter-in-law, Miriam. Haden Sloane and his daughter Lilly move into a house down the street. Miriam carries a grudge against Haden because he dumped her before prom.

Haden will work at a radio station as an account executive. Miriam works at the rival station. Relationships between both the parents and the kids sour.

A new boss tells Miriam that she will no longer be salaried but will have to work straight commission from her sales. This endangers an already tenuous financial position made worse by the arrival of Bea who has never liked Miriam.

After an argument with her boss, Miriam is fired. The only thing Miriam has worth any money is a baseball memorabilia collection, which belonged to Bea's son. Todd sees how mean his grandmother is and he tells her about it. That night, Bea has a heart attack.

After this, Bea's attitude changes, and she tries to help with finances. Miriam refuses because she doesn't want to owe Bea anything.

Bea decides she will earn money by selling her pies to Joe's Donut Shop and Odetta's Cupcake Oasis. She discovers that Joe and Odetta also have a decade's long feud and that Joe is in financial trouble too.

Miriam decides she will have to sell her memorabilia collection. Bea secretly arranges to have Haden buy it with her money so that she can help Miriam. Miriam sells it.

Bea schemes to heal the bad blood between Miriam and Haden and between Joe and Odetta. She gets the school to pay big money for Joe and Odetta to provide donuts and cupcakes for a dance at the school.

With Joe and Odetta providing the treats, Haden and Miriam chaperoning the dance, and Todd and Lilly attending, Bea plans to heal all the hurts among all of the people. Her plans go well until Lilly tries to give Todd a special Yadier Molina baseball card as a token of their friendship.

Miriam recognizes it as a card from her collection. She's furious that Haden has bought it. When Bea tries to tell her she had Haden buy it, that only makes things worse because now Miriam believes Bea is testing her in some way.

She leaves the dance, and as she goes tells Bea she can ride home with Haden. The one good thing that happens from this dance is that Odetta and Joe realize how ridiculous the others are acting and they make up.

However, that night Bea has a more serious heart attack.

While guilt racks Miriam, Haden explains how Bea tried to help her. Miriam doesn't believe him until Joe and Odetta tell her that Bea had also sold them some of her pies to help make money for Miriam and Todd.

Bea does survive, and the conflicts are healed. Joe and Odetta combine their baked goods expertise to make one bakery, Todd and Lilly come to like each other, and Miriam starts an ad agency. There are hints that romance might be in the future for Miriam and Haden.
