SYNOPSIS:
Expose’ follows a group of third rate journalists as they investigate stories of paranormal activity around the UK. When we first meet the team they gain a new producer in Charlotte Thorn, brought in by management to try and save the failing show. Immediately at odds with the shows former producer but remaining presenter Egon Kitzmert, the team squabble with trust issues as they struggle to regain their respect within the world of journalism. As the show progresses, the team find an unstable but workable dynamic, while all the time mysterious forces in the background battle with the shows future and several team members lives. While each episode further explores the team dynamic while giving the chance to get to know individual team members, we also follow them as they investigate stories that are key staples of the paranormal and science fiction/fantasy world; Episode One Superhero Episode Two Aliens. Episode Three Clones. Episode Four Demons. Episode Five Vampires. Episode Six Ghosts Episode Seven Zombies Episode Eight Time travel Episode Nine Telekinesis/psychic, Episode Ten Shape-shifting/werewolf Episode Eleven Possession Episode Twelve Voodoo The main tensions within the group stem first of all from the relationship between Egon and Charlotte. With two completely different views of their show, their cases, and life in general, the two often bump heads. Egon may also be hiding a secret agenda as he apparently plots to have Charlotte removed from the show, presumably at the request of some higher authority in return for some kind of reward. Egon also has a difficult relationship with his immediate superior, Andrea. He seems to act like a bg child around her, and often caught playing jokes or making snide comment about her, while in public we see him trying to be much more intimate with her, hinting at a past romantic relationship, which Andrea seems to highly regret. Tony is Egon’s other challenge at work, always being one step ahead. Egon is regularly seen as the victim to Tony’s casual school yard bullying. So far Egon has not had the courage to stand up and fight for himself.
I think the logline needs a comedic twang to it. Before I saw that it's Comedy/Drama, I thought that this was Newsroom but with paranormal activities (now that's a show). Anyway, I would add in one of the major challenges for the lead in the logline, which would cause for her team to potentially lose their jobs.
"When a recently graduated journalism student is offered her first major job running a paranormal investigative journalism show, she finds herself thrust into a dangerous world of intrigue and paranoia. But after (insert cause), she must (what must she overcome) to save her team from losing their jobs."
