In a society where it's illegal to be unhappy, a depressed young man is given "the prescription". Everything seems fine until it malfunctions...
SYNOPSIS:
The Prescription asks the question - is the cure worse than the disease?
The Prescription is a commentary on our societal approach to the treatment of mental health and the tendency to medicate the anxious, depressed and unhappy with chemicals. But pharmaceuticals are not the complete answer, and just "adjusting" our serotonin does not necessarily cure us. Mental health should be openly talked about and a more holistic approach to mental health care should be given, including the importance of talking therapies. The Prescription explores the extremes of what could happen if we artificially medicate the mind, and how damaging it can be when we take away free choice.
