SYNOPSIS:
‘The Suburbs’ is a melancholy drama that jumps between a present day investigation and a boy’s formative years in a 1980’s suburb. Peter Wybrew’s life is overshadowed by the disappearance of his popular older brother in 1988. His family has drifted apart; his own life is a mess. Grieving for his lost childhood, and hoping to restore his family, Peter ventures back to his suburban hometown on the outskirts of east London. Catching up with friends from the past, reigniting old conflict and missed romantic opportunities, Peter’s investigation leads him deeper into his memories: The last time he saw his brother was in a notorious junk yard; home to a fabled beast. Stalked by terrifying visions of the shadowy beast from his youth, Peter questions his own sanity. A break-through in his investigation leads Peter to his old home, now owned by a small-time drug dealer. Obsessed by his mission, Peter disturbs enemies from his childhood. Confronting some very real and very human monsters in a violent showdown; Peter finally uncovers the bitter fate of his brother.
