SYNOPSIS:

BRUCE and JENNY are in their twenties- been sweethearts since school. One day Bruce arrives at her door- the house empty- the family gone. After weeks of searching- he finds out Jenny’s father is an FBI witness against suspected terrorists and the family in protective custody. Bruce attempts to follow when the trial ends- until armed FBI agents warn him off and disable his car. Bruce cracks-up;- neglects football-training, argues with his parents, begins drinking and whilst making a small drugs deal- gets arrested. A state law allows for military service over prison and after training he is sent to Afghanistan. On one patrol a buddy is killed by an I.E.D. and on another- Bruce gets captured and held hostage by the Taliban. He is held in a local house- commandeered by the Taliban and the family forced to provide for them. Bruce constantly argues with his captors- via a member from Birmingham, UK. He laughs at the ludicrous idea of adults allowing their life to be dictated by religious fairy-tales- Muslims or Christians. He berates them for not being ‘man’ enough to think for themselves. We see the local family- one of the kids missing a leg and an old woman bedridden- always making sneering faces at the Taliban when they’re not looking- showing their hate of them. The Taliban force Bruce to dig-up and destroy mines planted along a mountain road. Bruce manages to escape- pursued by the rebels- and re-positions a mine that blows them up. Back at base- he’s a hero and a tv-link is set-up. Just prior to going ‘live’- Bruce is told of a drone attack that wiped out all in the house he was held hostage. Bruce is angry and vents his annoyance over the air. Sent home disgraced he is posted to an army hospital. One time- in the local town- he rescues a buddy from a heavy-duty gambling mob by making a realistic-looking I.E.D. from items bought in a local all-night store. Heading back to base- the hospital- he finds Jenny. At first- she denies her identity- but in an emotional afterthought- rushes back into Bruce’s arms. She tells of the trial- still ongoing due to technicalities and her family living just outside of town- constantly monitored by the FBI and their creepy boss- who drives an old Caddy which he boasts about. Jenny takes Bruce home- to the anger of the FBI. Bruce and Jenny state they aren’t parting again- EVER! The FBI boss makes a plan to accommodate all- Bruce and Jenny to leave and not contact her family until after the trial. A car is provided- but before leaving- Bruce is alerted and checks underneath the car- sees an I.E.D. wired to a cell-phone and taped to the chassis. Bruce and Jenny leave the next day- and the family is also re-located. As the boss of the FBI gets into his car- he extracts his cell-phone and makes a call….BOOM!
