Series Logline: A modern-day Frankenstein loses control of her nanotech invention.

Pilot Logline:  Keidra’s invention breaks as her father’s health reaches a critical state, ending her first week of grad school in disaster and jeopardizing her chances of joining The Sandbox. In China, a journalist takes a drastic measure after being pressured to make his daughter spy on The Sandbox.

Late for the pre-requisite test to get into Dr. Hackworth’s Advanced Product Design class, Keidra wrecks her bike. To repair it, she whips out her revolutionary nanotech key (aka Fido) which transforms into various small tools. Fido is limited and glitchy, and yet holds the potential to become the object of the world’s envy.

Keidra’s boyfriend Scott pressures her to apply to the state-of-the-art R&D center--The Sandbox--by giving her a tour of its fancy facilities. It’s tempting but would require too much time away from caring for Dad, who suffers from Alzheimer’s. Against her wishes, he signs her up anyway!

Meanwhile in China, recent graduate Holly Wu’s father and godfather reveal their plans to send her to America to join The Sandbox. Although she rejects their proposal, someone passes her registration information to The Sandbox anyway. She comes home from college to discover her father has succumbed to his nightmares.

Keidra’s father’s Alzheimer’s progresses rapidly. To cope, she sells their beloved sailboat and hires a day nurse, but she will never succumb to her grandmother’s wishes and put him in a home...until, that is, Dad and Fido go missing.
