A young African American woman, indelibly changed by her time serving as a triage nurse in Vietnam returns home to find her world and the people in it, unrecognizable.
SYNOPSIS:
Reflections follows Sherie Watkins in 1969 as
she returns to a Detroit beaten down by race
relations simmering under its surface. We will
see Sherie walk the line between returning
soldier and black woman. A vessel of her
parents’ hopes and dreams and steward of
her own. Mentally strong and capable, yet
fragile. She's a cypher for all of society’s
assumptions about who deserves what. It’s a
constant struggle that she doesn’t always
win. Sherie and each main character -her
parents, Russell and Deborah Watkins, her
fiancé, Franklin and his mother Phyllis
Winthrop along with her potential lover, Lee
Washington will often be beaten back by the
world outside their doors.
