I'm a screenwriter, with about six features, two pilots, and several shorts written, as well as a director and editor. I'm wondering if anyone knows the best way to go about getting a manager? I attended a panel at the Austin Film Festival, where they discussed how a screenwriter used a manager to secure an agent. But it seems like getting a manager has the same exact hurdles as getting an agent. Any advise?
I'd say check out the HappyWriters lounge! they have "pitch sessions" to managers all the time! Also, network on Stage32 and connect with managers/agents. You'll find the right one.
Pay attention! There's inspiration abound! Stephen mentioned the Happy Writers. Not a Lounge, but an incredible service all the same! I've pitched and used the coverage services with much success.

This is a network for you, built by you. Like most things in life, the more you participate, the greater the rewards. We ask all new members to pay it forward by inviting 5 fellow creatives to the network and by spreading the word of Stage 32 through other social media sites such as Facebook, LinkedIn, and Twitter. The more creatives, the stronger the network. The stronger the network, the more opportunities.
Thanks for joining the movement and for being a part of this most talented and inspiring community. I very much look forward to your contributions.
Thanks, and have a creative day!
RB
