What does a single mom do when her dream is to open a coffee shop, but her heart is wrapped up in community outreach for survivors of human trafficking, homeless, abuse, and addiction? She combines both under one roof.

SYNOPSIS:

Mistina has used every resource to move her coffee truck business into a coffee shop. It is the first week and disasters are already happening. The espresso machine isn’t working, and the electricity keeps blinking. Mistina’s friends are quick to give unsolicited advice. The local cop tends to drop or spill everything he touches, and Mistina’s daughter is insistent on bringing home a baby squirrel. Mistina is desperate to get the shop advertised and pay off her overdue cam charges before the landlord gives her a notice.

A homeless man joins the fray and wants to play his guitar in exchange for the supplies and free coffee that Mistina gives him. A group of Dungeons & Dragons players arrive looking for a reserved table and Mistina realizes that she forgot to set it up and scrambles to accommodate them. In the middle of everything, the power goes out.

Despite the chaos, the D&D group loves the quirky atmosphere, provided by candlelight, and decides to stay. The homeless man plays his guitar and is surprisingly good. One of Mistina’s friends gets the power back on but tells her that an expensive rewire needs to happen. Mistina breaks even for the day and reminds her daughter that they are fighters.

While a summary can explain the events of the pilot, it doesn’t give you the dialogue and relationship building that is integral to a comedy. That can only be done by reading it.
