A man on the run must struggle to separate delusion from reality when he’s forced to share his motel room for the night with a peculiar and enigmatic stranger.

SYNOPSIS:

SLIM, (mid-30’s, average looks and build), checks into an isolated, seedy motel, the kind where the rooms open to the outdoors.As he’s using the ice machine near his room, Room 8, BUZZ, (40’s, heavyset), pulls up in his car and walks brazenly into the room.SLIM rushes inside to find BUZZ making himself at home, oblivious to SLIM’s commands to get out. We’re not sure if BUZZ is real or a figment of SLIM’s agitated mind.

SLIM phones the DESK CLERK, (20’s or 30’s, creepy, obsessively neat) and orders him to eject this intruder. The DESK CLERK ignores his demands.This all too much for SLIM and he bolts.But before he can drive away, BUZZ shows him a news story on his phone that stops SLIM cold.BUZZ suggests that he return to the room.He does.

We learn that earlier in the day SLIM killed his wife and her lover, Nick (a bagman for his mob boss father), took a suitcase of money belonging to Nick’s old man and is on the run not only from the police, but from Nick’s family.

When SLIM asksBUZZ who he is, BUZZ tells him that he’s there to help SLIM come to grips with what he’s done and figure out what to do about it. What’s strange is that BUZZ seems to know details about the murders and about Slim that he shouldn’t know. Over the course of the night, the men discuss SLIM’s predicament; why he did it, how he’s going to deal with it.The discussion is helped along with copious amounts of whiskey and weed, which only serves to further loosen SLIM’s grip on reality and deepen his despair.

In the wee hours of the morning, SLIM reaches his breaking point, almost commits suicide and comes close to shooting BUZZ.He passes out.

When he awakens at dawn, hungover and bleary eyed, BUZZ is gone and so is the suitcase with the money.A report about BUZZ on a TV news report catches SLIM’s attention.Turns out that his roommate for the evening was a crooked lawyer who’s running from the law after cleaning out his clients’ trust accounts.Just as SLIM’s digesting this bad news, the door is kicked in and he’s gunned down by the police.
