SYNOPSIS:
A narrator tells us about old city Philadelphia and how it once inhabited magicians and civilians who were in a state of social tension.
A montage of Old City Philadelphia and its inhabitants run.
The narrator finishes with saying “…then one day that tension boiled over”.
Abe, our protagonist, is an orphan and considered a misfit who wants to be accepted by society.
When the Mayor orders all magicians massacred after several incidents, it sends shockwaves through the city. Magicians are taken to bases and killed and tortured—removed from their dwelling and made public display.
While many magicians flee, Abe and his mentor Marlowe stay to form an army to take on the Mayor and his police force. Marlow is forced to a place called the Netherworld.
Abe convinces the magicians to fight again. The Myrtles attack several warehouses and concentration camps and defeat the police force.
With the numerous victories around town, Abe sets his sights on taking down the mayor and proposes a battle strategy to tackle him along the waterfront where he will be holding an anti-wizard rally.
The Myrtles battle against the police force and have numerous victories but when Abe confronts the mayor, he learns that the mayor is a wizard and is cast to the Netherworld where Marlow was sent.
While in the Netherworld, Abe battles against several creatures until he is defeated by a cyclops and knocked unconscious. While unconscious, Abe sees a vision from his mother and father and is awakened after the dreams by Marlowe who trains Abe to defeat the mayor and informs Abe of his destiny to be leader of the Myrtles. After training, Marlowe teaches Abe how to leave the Netherworld.
Abe leaves the Netherworld and rallies the remaining Myrtles to fight against the police force despite the losses. They agree. Civilians who sympathize join forces with the Myrtles. As the final battle wages on,
Abe confronts the mayor again and, this time, he defeats him.
With the mayor destroyed, a new regime is put in place to favor a unified Philadelphia. Abe gets a nice kiss from Emma. Myrtles and civilians rejoice as evil is destroyed and a new day emerges.
Abe sits by himself in a park and thinks about the events that transpired. He reminisces about his time with Marlowe and hears his voice whisper “I will be with you forever”. Abe sees images of his mother and father together.
