IN UTERO
By Jordan Trippeer

GENRE: Sci-fi, Horror
LOGLINE:

After a meltdown at a shady government facility, a pregnant undercover reporter survives in an emergency bunker where she uncovers the extent of the facility’s dangerous research and realizes her unborn baby may no longer be entirely human.

SYNOPSIS:

Passionate about revealing corruption and crisis wherever she finds it, journalist Corrie Lanigan has always prioritized her undercover work, putting herself on the line to break some of the most important news stories of the past decade. And at 16 weeks pregnant, there's still time for one last assignment before her priorities change.

However, when a cataclysmic event traps her alone in an isolated government bunker with a facility doctor and a technician as her only points of contact via remote video, Corrie quickly realizes the facility's secrets are much bigger than she ever imagined.

She's being observed 24 hours a day, her baby begins growing at a rapid, unnatural rate inside of her, and something big and inhuman is making noises on the other side of one of the bunker's doors. The men in charge seem to obfuscate every question she asks, and start to prioritize the health of her baby even to her own detriment...like she's some sort of lab rat in an experiment.

With the air outside unbreathable, "getting out" isn't her solution; instead, Corrie is forced to go deeper -- to use her investigative skills to figure out exactly what the facility is researching and how her baby factors into it before it's too late.

In Utero is ROSEMARY'S BABY meets 10 CLOVERFIELD LANE. Contained, tense, and claustrophobic, it's a female-driven horror film that explores a woman's agency and resourcefulness in the face of seemingly inescapable odds and a visceral allegory for the struggle for women's reproductive rights today.
