'Mentalist' meets 'Castle': Jessica Crowley becomes a world-renowned crime novelist when a copycat killer precisely enacts the murders and M.O. in her novels. Her fame is short-lived when new evidence reveals she may have committed her novels' murders herself, just as the police ask her for help on other copycat killings.

SYNOPSIS:

Jessica Crowley is a South African crime novelist who is not selling well or getting any recognition for her work. As far as she is concerned, her novels should be competing for attention with the likes of James Patterson and David Hewson. Publishing the fifth novel in the series, her name spreads around the globe when it is discovered in the U.K. and U.S that someone is committing the same murders and M.O. as her first novel, literally a copycat of her work. She is called in to assist with the cases, when they find her personal belongings at the crime scenes. With nothing but her word to prove her innocence, she is declared guilty and imprisoned.

A year later, the same authorities that imprisoned her call on her for help. With her extensive research on serial killings around the world for her novels, she they believe she would be able to assist local FBI and SSA units in discovering who is replicating the murders. Jessica refuses, until it is revealed that someone is now simulating the murders in her second novel. Seeing a chance to secretly use the investigations in an attempt to prove her innocence, she finally agrees to help the police solve copycat killings that are taking the country, and the world, by storm. Yet, Jessica knows there is no one she can trust and her colleagues, who are so eager to have her help solve the cases, still believe she is guilty of the original copycat murders.
