Thought I wanted to go right into acting but I think the best way to get my foot in the door would be to do some modeling.

Just never stop working toward your dreams. Go to classes, get an agent, memorize a monologue & make it believable, learn improvisation, read backstage.com articles. They are written by casting agents, directors, actors, etc... so they know what they are talking about. Do you have a professional actors head shot? & for modeling you need a comp card. I love seeing other kids make their dreams come true. If you have passion for acting & modeling & you are willing to work for free, look for student films that need actors, that away you can start a resume. Having an agent helps a lot, but until you get one you can submit yourself to certain websites like dragonuk.com, mandy.com, exploretalent.com, backstage com. Some are free. I wish you the best of luck. Never give up.

Thanks Scott for accepting my request. I am hoping to become an actress. It seems really hard to get noticed for a role/part. Any advice since you started out so young?

If you are going to go there, here is where to start. 1. Headshots. Spend the money to have them done by a professional. Not your buddy next door. 2. Get as much Extra work as you can. This will help develop your skills and will allow you to learn the biz. 3. Help on projects as crew. Great way to learn the business and make network connections. 4. Get a professional looking website. They don't cost that much. Keep it updated. Have downloadable headshots and resumes available. Add clips, reels, etc. 5. Volunteer for college projects. They always need talent for their final projects and this will help you develop your skills. The more you do the better you will become. 6. Have a select series of monologues memorized. These will be extremely important. PRACTICE, PRACTICE, PRACTICE them. I recommend in front of a mirror. 7. If you have a sense of humor, try doing a bit of stand-up comedy, as this will put you out there and give you direct feedback. It will allow you to learn to deal with disappointment too. 8. Community Theater will be one of your best friends. Volunteer for as many parts as you are able to get. PRACTICE, PRACTICE, PRACTICE. Do both the classics, as well as modern pieces. They will teach you a lot. 9 Find a GOOD acting couch. Research them and their credentials before you pay a dime. Good ones cost. 10. Network with people other than just actors, as you need work and they are looking for the same thing you are. 11. Stay in contact with those you network with. Touch base on a regular schedule. See what they are doing and ask how you can help them. 12. Commit to a project of someone else has going and they just might commit to something you are doing. It is a give-take business. Learn how to be a giver. Hope this short list helps.
Hope you enjoy my updates. http://lelandsanders.blogspot.com/
