SYNOPSIS:
In 1879, the acts of an overzealous agent for the Bureau of Indian Affairs has left the members of the Ute Indian Nation no other option than to rise up against the oppression. Fearing for the safety of his family and employees, the agent calls on the U.S. Cavalry for aid. The men of the Indian Agency are massacred and the 150 members of the cavalry are ambushed and besieged for six days until reinforcements arrive. The screenplay follows the ignorant and overconfident Command on their journey from Fort Steele Wyoming through to their rescue by the 9th Cavalry Buffalo Soldiers. Eleven (11) Congressional Medals of Honor were awarded, including one of the first ever to a black soldier. This is one of the most fascinating actual events of the 'American West' that few people know occurred. For comparison sake, it's 'Black Hawk Down' in 1879.
