SYNOPSIS:
We open with our hero, Chicago Cubs superstar outfielder, Jack Hoss, partying in various hot spots around the world, while, unbeknownst to him, back home, his own club has been trying to trade him. His antics abroad however have made the papers and nixed any chances at a deal. For now. Jack returns home to Chicago where hsi partying continues. We see from the memorabilia in Jack's apartment that his best days are behind him as evidenced by a bevy of awards at least three years old. Jack keeps a picture of his girfriend on his night stand, except the girl emerging from the shower is not her. Jack pulls himself together and realizes that he has messed-up again and tries to call his girlfriend who abruptly hangs-up on him. Jack goes to a meeting with his long suffering agent/manager Benny. Benny bascially tells him to get himself straight because this is the last year of his contract, he';s going to be 35 and legend or not to the people of Chicago, this contract will be his last if he doesn't. Benny tells Jack that the club has been trying to trade him, but Jack doesn't believe him. Benny lets Jack know that his "no-trade-clause" in hjis contract only extends so far and that the club, should they be able to make a deal could send him to any one of ten teams toimorrow whether Jack likes it or not. Bascially the reason the club is so willing to deal Jack is not just becuae of his partying and declinging skills, but becuase of a tremendous young rookie who is the second coming of himself. Jack begins to see the light with Benny's guidance. Go to Spring Training, clean-up his act, get the folks of Chicago on his side and strive to get the club to the World Series. Jack understands, but is still very wounded by the clubs attempts to trade a player with 517 home runs, all for the Cubs. And so...to be continued.
