In a last-ditch effort to save her world from a fascist regime, a convicted hacker must sneak past enemy lines, thwart an assassin who can kill with a thought, and plant a virus inside the fleet's communications network.

SYNOPSIS:

In the far future, telepathic extremists called ESPERS have conquered Earth and the surrounding planets.

Knowing they will be invaded next, the nearby colony on Procyon recruits convicted hacker MIDA TAVARES to infiltrate a programming facility on Mars and place a computer virus inside the Esper fleet's communication software. Before they even get there, a brutal surprise attack leaves the infiltration team broken, short a man and at each others' throats.

Somehow, Tavares rallies the team and convinces them to continue, but when they reach Mars they discover that their contact is dead, and the only man who can help them is the Esper JASON YUEH. Their mutual hatred of Yueh unites the infiltration team even as it diverts attention from the traitor in their midst.

Tavares plants the virus, but not before members of their team start disappearing. When Yueh is fingered as the traitor, Tavares makes a leap of faith to trust him and hunt down the real killer--and the Esper controlling him.
