GENRE: Drama
LOGLINE:

Conflict arises when a member of the transgender community reveals her true self to a long time friend, but understanding soon comes into play when the reasons that caused the conflict between the two are revealed by the best friend.

SYNOPSIS:

Ricki Anderson, formerly Rick Anderson and who is a post-op member of the transgender community, decides to visit her friend, Ryan Potter, a friend who she has known since they were kids and when she was a male, and catch up on the good times they had together when they were kids.

When she gets to Ryan's house, at first Ryan doesn't recognize Ricki and as she tells him that she used to be a male named Rick and she goes into detail about her transformation and her coming out as a transgender, Ryan is silent throughout Ricki's visit and Ryan's silence makes her concerned.

Back at Ricki's house, she thinks about the entire situation and questions concerning Ryan's silence enter her mind and she wonders about the future of her friendship with Ryan based on his lengthy silence during her visit to his house. Strong and confident, she returns to Ryan's house and demands the answers regarding his silence.

With great difficulty and out of respect, Ryan confesses the reasons behind his deep silence: He read horrible stories about the prejudice and violence against members of the transgender community and as he read the stories he thought of Ricki and worried that she would be a victim of violence because of who she really is. And Ryan tells her that his silence was really concern for a best friend. He also tells her that he can relate to being mistreated; even though he is totally straight.

Ryan's confession and understanding makes Ricki feel much better about their friendship. Then, the two friends reminisce about the times they had together when they were kids and when Ricki asks Ryan if he is truly happy for her being a member of the transgender community, Ryan tells her a long speech of understanding and acceptance on his part and saying, "If you are happy, then, I'm happy."

Ryan's moving acceptance speech makes Ricki cry tears of happiness and the two continue to reminisce about their good times together as kids.
