Julie Nelson has earned her graduation needle but fire and fear of rejection affect her self-confidence as she struggles to make the right decisions for her future.

SYNOPSIS:

Orphaned at a young age on the plains of Colorado. Julie Nelson's aunt, Lady Jane from across the pond and her father's twin brother raise her in a wealthy home in Denver,Colorado. She is somewhat bullied by her cousin at the turn of the century.

Julie and her older cousin both attend Colorado Teaching College in Greeley,Colorado. Greeley is an experimental Utopian town and a great deal ahead of time with inventions from the East. When Julie's cousin graduates and takes off for England she feels terribly alone and unsure of herself. Julie must learn to make decisions and choices for herself as she falls in love, or believes she has, and begins to build a life on her own as her fiance`trains for an overseas assignment during WWI.

She is alone and fearful so she hides it by caring for others and teaching in the new engineering domestic program on campus. She is attracted to an acquaintance whom her sister warned her about, the campus playboy who shows her a different side of his personality and she feels a great deal of confusion.

"Will Jeremy come home? What if he doesn't? What do I do with David who is here and never going off to war?" Julie struggles with indecision and confusion. Jeremy left so strong and sure of himself that he must go despite Julie's pleading.
