A young female reporter in over her head contests big pharma for the last remaining dose of the "holy grail" of drugs--a serum that could extend human life by 5-10x
SYNOPSIS:
A newpaper receives a tip that a recluse doctor has discovered a serum that extends life by many times. The Times sends Bailey, a novice journalist, to follow up on the crackpot lead, where she hopes to score an enormous scoop.
Bailey meets Doctor Conroy at his aging mansion with a high tech laboratory in the basement. He announces that only one dose is left of a forgotten formula. The Doctor also warns that an agent named Egan of a big Pharmaceutical company is trying to destroy his work.
Bailey passes out. She awakes next to Conroy's body with the police at the door and the serum missing. She runs out the back into the arms of Egan.
Bailey's perilous pursuit of the missing serum and a murderer takes her into the labyrinth of the Food and Drug Administration where an FDA employee makes off with the drug to save a dying grandfather in China.
When the Air China flight disappears, Bailey hitches a ride on a C130 to Jilin Province to find the crash site and a cover up. There, the relation, legendary poet Li Shizheng gives Bailey a life lesson not wanting to be “cut from the herd”, seeking to die like everyone else.
