After losing his wife and his career due to his drinking problem, a former college wrestler decides to rebuild his personal and professional lives through mixed martial arts
SYNOPSIS:
Forged in Fury is Warrior meets The Wrestler, a gritty, heartfelt exploration of second chances, perseverance, and the fight to reclaim your soul.
Matt Stark’s life is a shadow of what it once was. Once a two-time cadet national wrestling champion with dreams of Olympic glory as an incoming freshman at the University of Iowa, his career derailed under the weight of unmet expectations and a growing addiction to alcohol. Now in his thirties, Matt’s marriage is in shambles, his career in finance is over, and his father’s disappointment looms large. Rock bottom finally comes after a drunken altercation with a professional MMA fighter leaves him humiliated and injured.
Forced to confront his demons, Matt begrudgingly enters Alcoholics Anonymous, where his sponsor, Lance Zinkus—a former middleweight MMA champion—sees potential in Matt’s dormant wrestling skills. Drawn into Lance’s world of mixed martial arts, Matt finds purpose in the grueling demands of training and the discipline it requires. With every punch, takedown, and hard-fought sparring session, Matt begins to reconcile his failures as a husband and son. But the cage is no sanctuary. Matt is offered a fight against a fearsome opponent, Hiro Watanabe, a knockout artist on the rise. The fight represents more than physical survival—it’s Matt’s shot at redemption.
As Matt trains for the fight of his life, he must also navigate the emotional battles of his past, from repairing his fractured relationships to forgiving himself for his failures. Forged in Fury is a raw and powerful story of redemption and resilience, where every step forward is earned with sweat, sacrifice, and an unflinching look at the person you’ve become.
