SYNOPSIS:

Starvation Heights is about a reality T.V. show that films at a haunted sanitarium where patients starved to death, but the ghosts are the least of their worries.

Hellraiser for a new generation meets Hell House with Greek cults and a dose of insane local history thrown in.

Inspired by real-life events at Starvation Heights.

OUTSIDE SEATTLE - TRAMELL HOUSE - 1903

Rose Hadley and her sister Grace arrive at the Tamwell Sanitarium to regain their health, instead, they experience horrors at the hands of the owners. Many die from this practice and give the place its name with the locals, Starvation Heights.

Rose is terrified and tries to escape. She is captured by Tanith and Telford who convince her to come back for the sake of her sister. Grace is being held in a lower room of the house, barely alive. Rose pleads with Tanith to let Grace go and punish her for trying to leave. Tanith tells her that they are all there for a higher purpose and leaves to two women in the dark. Telford returns a few minutes later, alone, and shuts the door. Rose screams.

CURRENT DAY

An advance reality T.V. crew comes to investigate reports of paranormal activities at the haunted sanitarium. If they find anything, then the first crew of, Paranormal True Stories, will arrive and continuing filming.

The only one who still lives in the large, two-floor sanitorium is Thorn, the caretaker who has lived there his whole life.

Thorn tells Harper, Sutter, Jonas, and Kaylin that there are at least a dozen spirits who reside at the house. Harper who has a degree in metaphysics is excited to see the phenomenon firsthand. Thorn has fixed up rooms and because of the remote location, the four stay there.

That night, through the eyes of a ghost, we see them float from room to room checking on the guests. At the same time a hooded, unknown figure arrives in Harper's room. Creatures which are half-human and half creatures stand beside the figure. They disappear together back in the closet.

Harper and Sutter explore a small graveyard off in the woods. They find the headstone of Grace Hadley who died in 1904 but her sister Rose didn’t die until 1958. They ask Thorn if he knows anything about the gravesites. He doesn’t.

The investigators set up their equipment. Harper is on the monitors and Sutter, Jonas and Kaylin are investigating in the upper floors with ghost EMF readers. As Harper monitors the readings go off the chart. She tries to warn Sutter and Jonas, but the equipment goes dark.

Sutter and Jonas see a ghostly apparition of a woman wearing a 60’s style pants suit. She tries to talk but then rushes toward the two men and disappears.

Harper tries to figure out why the cameras went black, but there is definitely something in the house. They decided to call in the first team.

That night, while exploring the house, Harper encounters the ghost of Rose Hadley and another woman dressed in a style from the 30s. In a mirror, the words LEAVE and DANGER appear. But before Harper can ask a question, the two ghosts disappear.

Harper hurries to Sutter’s room to tell him what she saw. He’s doing research on his computer. On the screen is a picture Sutter’s found with the two sisters, Rose and Grace. There’s a record that they came to the Tramwell House in 1903, but nothing after that, and no death records.

Bernard Davies the star of Paranormal True Stories arrives by helicopter the next morning followed by his film crew, John and Robert. After learning about the equipment malfunctioning, they set up their own gear in the same area.

Bernard, complete with night vision goggles and a flair for over the top narration begins to film for his television show. The ghost of Rose Hadley appears again and gives a warning, LEAVE NOW. She rushes toward them.

Again, the camera and equipment have malfunctioned. Furious that they didn’t get the footage, Bernard fires Robert and John and hires on Harper and their crew. Bernard makes a lude remark to Harper which makes her wonder if taking a job on the first crew would be worth it. Robert and John say they are leaving.

While outside, Robert faces Rose’s ghost who is pointing back to the house. At the same moment, he sees a hooded figure that gestures to him. The ghost is desperate to stop him, but the figure removes a glowing orb from their robe. Hypnotized, Robert follows.

A cult of locals, led by Thorn, beckon Robert. Thorn explains to Robert that he is the first who will be sacrificed to help rebuild a bride for Hades. Robert's arms are ripped free. The creatures bring in the shriveled form of Tanith Tramwell. We learn that Thorn is Tanith’s great-great-grandson. A vine-like substance binds Robert’s limbs to Tanith.

Harper and Sutter find a hidden room in the house. It is filled with books on Greek Mythology, mainly Demeter and Persephone. Myths have it that PERSEFOKNEE was abducted from her mother and forced to live six months out of every year in Hell as Satan’s bride. The Eleusinian Mysteries cult who worshiped Demeter and Persephone believed if they followed her they would gain eternal life

John one of the cameramen waits to leave the Tramwell house. He is beckoned and mutilated for his legs to build Tanith.

Jonas and Kayin are also caught and dismembered.

Harper and Sutter find a book listing a family tree. It lists Rose Hadley as Thorn’s grandmother a few times removed. There is also a woman listed. They find that she was listed as missing in the area and never found.

There is an attraction between Harper and Sutter, and they talk about the feeling between them.

Later that night, alone in his room, Sutter hears noises on his outside balcony but before he can run, the creatures swarm him and carry him off.

The ghosts appear again and warn Harper. She is afraid at first but then they tell her that Sutter will die if she does not follow them.

The two ghosts lead Harper to a room below the house. Inside the room is a woman in her fifties, a woman in her thirties, and a young girl.

The women say they know it is time and Harper is there to release them.

Tanith is almost completely formed only needing Sutter’s heart to finish the transformation. As she raises the knife the door bursts open and the women swoop in. The cult fights back, but the women kill them.

Harper takes on Tanith and breaks her apart with a shovel. Tanith falls into the abyss and the creatures follow her.

Thorn confronts the older woman, who is his mother. She shows Thorn no mercy and kills him. In his last breath, he says that they can’t kill the cult of Eleusinian and they will live forever.

The cult has kept these women in the basement of the house inbreeding to keep the family linage going. Now that the women are free, they decide to stay at the house with the ghosts of their ancestors.

Harper and Sutter return to Seattle and discuss what they will do next. A mysterious woman tells them that this was only one of many cults trying to achieve the same results. Harper touched the sacrificial knife and Sutter tasted the creatures as they attacked him, the two understand.

The woman asks them to help track down the cults before they can destroy humanity.
