A 17th  century city is sprawling with criminals. Its only bounty hunter is in debts... And his own wife wants him dead.

SYNOPSIS:

Allan Gunpowder is a bounty hunter. He is given a life-saving job by his own wife, Betty. She asks him to get rid of a brutal gang led by Angus Griefsonn.

The hunt brings to surface their previously unacknowledged feelings towards each other. Still, Gunpowder's wife plans to have him killed.

Gunpowder provokes Griefsonn to attack. After a chase through the night city Griefsonn escapes, and Gunpowder himself is thrown in a dungeon and executed, his business taken over by Betty.

Betty sets sail and is beset by a storm. Griefsonn attempts to kill her aboard the ship, but he is stopped by Gunpowder who faked his own death.

His feelings prevent him from turning her in, however. Devastated, she tries to kill him, but she fails and throws herself into the waves.

Broken, Gunpowder is planning to give up bounty hunting, but he cannot resist the first mark he gets.
