NICKY'S PLACE

NICKY'S PLACE
By Shawn M Decker

GENRE: Comedy, Drama
LOGLINE:

Tired of harassment and setbacks in her life, a young woman embarks on a journey of self-discovery when she leaves the corporate world to become an erotic dancer.

SYNOPSIS:

Nicky’s Place is a humorous and poignant look at what it means to engage in erotic dancing as a means of survival. Many people across the globe have turned to sex work in times of scarcity, and this show explores what it means to battle the dangers and stigmas connected to the world of stripping, a profession often seen as the shallow end of the notoriously slippery slope of the sex work trade. This a fictional account of the dancers who struggle to make a living in the saturated market of selling sex, while protecting themselves from predatory customers, condescending religious activists, would-be exploiters and their own self-doubt in a world that tells women it’s okay to be sexy as long as you don’t dare profit from it.

Arc of the show

Season one will follow Lindsay for the first few episodes as she learns the ropes of how to be an erotic dancer (we don’t use the term “exotic” as she is as Caucasian as possible). It begins by her entering the weekly amateur contest, learning what it means to be a private contractor, using social media to attract customers, experimenting with kink culture, and figuring out how to maintain a version of integrity while protecting herself from the derision of her family and friends. As Lindsay gets to know her co-workers and customers, we will see flashbacks from their lives, both positive and negative, that led them to the club.
