A geologist leaves his ailing mother at home and travels to Antarctica to complete his Ph.D. In Antarctica, the Geologist is attacked by an unknown beast with excellent attack and defense abilities.

SYNOPSIS:

1991 Year. Antarctic. Soviet research station "Float". Geologist Kirill (32) takes measurements of the Earth's magnetosphere, near Lake Vostok, his daughter Elena (6) plays next to him, throws snowballs. A terrifying Beast jumped out of the lake - a tall primate in wool, with claws and large fangs. The animal catches snowballs. The geologist was frightened for his daughter and rushed to her. The daughter asks him not to move, as the Beast is attracted to movement. The father ignored his daughter's words and was killed by the Beast.

In the hot city of Sochi, geologist Dmitry (35) works at the institute. He is working on defending his PhD. In response to a request for a geologist on a business trip, the leadership of the institute appoints the narcissistic Dmitry. Dmitry is promised a scientific degree after working in Antarctica. If Dmitry refuses to agree, then he is fired after he takes the letter of evacuation to the «Float» station in Antarctica.

Dmitry leaves his sick mother alone and comes to Antarctica. Dmitry stays and works. Dmitry gets acquainted with the staff of the station and listens to the instruction of the little girl Elena, that there is no need to run and be afraid near the lake. Dmitry feels sympathy for Tatyana (30) - Elena's mother. In the evening, Dmitry goes to measure the magnetosphere to Lake Vostok and meets with the terrible Beast from the lake. Thanks, to Elena's instructions, Dmitry remains alive.

Dmitry understands that his words need proof; he returns to the «Float» station and takes the camera. The military arrive at the station and read out a special protocol for escorting the station's employees to the Vostok Lake area. The military forbids visiting Lake Vostok alone.

At night, Kirill hears the military say that it is necessary to liquidate the object after contact; there should not be any witnesses.

The next day, Dmitry takes measurements near Lake Vostok in the company of military men. The military has metal nets and strange equipment. The military are freezing; Dmitry offers them to run around to keep warm. The fleeing military was attacked by the Beast, which jumped out of the lake. Dmitry does not move and carefully photographs the Beast. The bullets stop near the Beast and fall on the snow. The military are defenseless and perish.

Arrest the entire staff of the «Float» station until all circumstances are clarified. Dmitry returns to the station and sees the ambush of the military from afar, then he returns to the lake and lures the Beast out. The beast runs after the all-terrain vehicle. Dmitry wedges the control of the all-terrain vehicle and jumps out near the «Float» station.

The military run out of the ambush and open fire, the beast attacks the military and devours. Dmitry, picking up a weapon, threatens Major Agopov, who is hiding in a military vehicle. Dmitry takes the major to the «Float» station and conducts an interrogation.

Dmitry finds out that this station is just a bait and a way to contact a unique beast that the military wants to detain for study. Scientists know that the Beast can change body weight.
