In a city bustling with crime like murder, domestic abuse, drugs peddling and the rest; the lives of Newark police officers interconnects as they must serve and protect the city, while they also live to deal with family and personal issues.

SYNOPSIS:

Two black teenagers steal a car and speed off, unaware of a street camera nearby. During that evening, new Newark Police recruit DANNY POLOVSKI celebrates with his friends, a new start to his career. On the other side, senior Detective VINCE DONATO accompanies his wife, assures her that everything will be okay, knowing his daughter is fighting cancer.

Vince and senior partner DONALD JACKSON investigate the murder of a black teen on the low-income apartment rooftop from the prior evening. Later that evening for night shift, Corporal KEYANA NASH, gets equipped in the locker room for shift, while taking praises from a previous night of taking down a hostile thug. New recruit Danny is paired with disgruntled Sergeant FREDDY MALONE, who's retiring soon, but although a seasoned Police veteran, Danny soon finds out Freddy has an addiction to alcohol and uses it as a coping mechanism for his divorce.

Keyana is frustrated between her work and home life. Vince and Donald cruise over to Vince's favorite Portuguese restaurant, owned by hustler ALDO SILVA. Vince is involved in some dirty deals with Aldo which Donald doesn't know about. Vince meets with S.W.A.T. SERGEANT LOU RODRIGUES and informs him of the Bodega case, who agrees to help and keep it from Donald.

DAQUAN kills his mother's abusive boyfriend as instructed by a gang boss, BLOCK. Keyana is to look over a case of an asthmatic girl, SABRINA which she asked someone to investigate deeper into it. While on patrol, Freddy and Danny pull over a speeding car with driver MELANIE BATES inside. Clearly attracted to her, Freddy encourages Danny to give her his number.

Meanwhile in the Bodega, the group watches a cargo truck unload its contents. As soon as there's a money exchange with owner MARCOS HERNANDEZ, the group swarms in. Vince opens the boxes to find pastries with hidden coke bags inside. As they arrest the men, a patrolman whose good friends with Donald, drives past and witnesses the sting, and messages Donald. Donald's up reviewing their case and unearths a good lead; Daquan's face captured on scene at the rooftop. Donald is also frustrated with Vince's secret dealings.

At the Marbella lounge, Melanie closes the bar and heads out to her car when she's attacked by two masked men. The men beat and rape her until she's barely conscious. Her boss arrives in time to shoot one of the men in the arm, before performing CPR and calling the police.

Later, Keyana receives an unexpected phone call from a Nurse at the hospital informing her that they observed Sabrina having multiple scars around her inner thighs and vaginal area, assuming molestation and rape.
