A loving Ethiopian-born daughter helps her family survive by any means necessary, while preventing pesticides from poisoning the land of their new Sicilian home.
SYNOPSIS:
Ayana Abebe finds the escaped Orfeo Cavicchioli seeking refuge on land that was formerly part of his family's vineyards. While Orfeo decides if his lack of guilt feelings for forgotten murders proves his innocence or no, Ayana siezes an opportunity to protect her family once and for all from claims of usurpation. Contrasting matriarchal and patriarchal vantages with integrated pest management and pesticides, Night Bloomers brings a new vision of the Sicilian countryside to the screen.
Adapting the film noir classic The Scarf, Night Bloomers explores the guilt of food production, pitting the Cavicchioli and Abebe families against one another in the vineyards of Sicily.
