The concept of “Watchmaker” is incredibly unique and refreshing. While there are other fantasy series that have been in circulation or are currently airing, this gives this genre a fresh new spin. There is a rapidly growing audience for inclusive content. As a story that is female-led, centers around a queer relationship and an ethnically inclusive cast of characters, this series will fit the bill. Equally importantly, this concept has legs as it has the potential to stretch into multiple seasons. It is a complex topic that is made understandable for a broad audience.

Nitocris has died. She approaches the twelfth and final gate to the Hall of Osiris to face judgment. However, upon the judgment of her heart, the Eye of Ra discovers that Nitocris' heart is not as light as she says-- indicating her soul has been defiled once more. As a result, she is reborn again.

In her new life, she is "defiled" again and consequently finds herself pregnant and alone save for a midwife as she gives birth to her illegitimate child. During the throws of labor, the midwife, Annette, reveals that she is Akila, Nitocris' wife in their past life. Through Akila's prompting Nitocris remembers that they died the day of their wedding because they had their banquet flooded to get revenge on the soldiers attending that had killed her brother, and Amon, the man who raped her. As a result, they've both been cursed to be reborn until they atone for their sins while protecting their souls from "defilement".

Nitocris gives birth to a girl, she is dead. To give Nitocris another chance at atonement Annette kills her and guides her soul into the newborn girl. Reborn again, Nitocris is taken to a convent where Annette hands her over to a nun.

Meanwhile, Amon appears to be chasing them through time as well, cursed to atone for his sins as well for which he must earn Nitocris' forgiveness. He believes that if he can get Nitocris into the Hall of Osiris she will forgive him and he will gain entry as well. He sends John to track her in the future. John finds Annette, now a nurse doing administrative duties in a hospital. When he makes inquiries about a particular date of birth, she realizes Amon is closing in on them. As soon as John leaves she goes to the church to get Nitocris. However, earlier Nitocris had had a vision and realizing Amon will be coming after her soon, left the convent. Upon hearing about Nitocris' departure Annette uses her powers to kill all the nuns at the convent so there are no witnesses left and goes after Nitocris. As soon as she vanishes Amon and John appear at the convent and observe the carnage-- late again.
