SYNOPSIS:

Callie and her allegedly sick child are fleeing from their past. In the midst of a heavy snowstorm, with no food, no shelter and no money, she seeks the hospitality of someone willing to take her and her boy in. But it isn’t just charity she seeks. She needs someone she can manipulate into giving her the attention she so desperately craves, but also someone from whom she can fleece the money she needs to start a new life.

Who will be her target?

Jacob is a widowed ex-marine. He lives with his daughter, Lorna, in a remote house. He suffers from nightmares of war and lives a regimented life of routine and structure to manage his anxiety. His life is not without its problems, but he is calm, settled, and safe.

That is, until Callie shows up with her son at Jacob’s front door.

His world capsizes as Callie quickly ensconces herself into his home and learns the rhythms of his routine; but she also threatens to take over the role of his deceased wife: by exploiting Jacob’s grief, she can get closer to him, earn his trust, and manipulate his good nature for her own gain.

But Jacob gets wise to her machinations and a cat and mouse game of secrets and lies soon plays out.

It takes the brutal murder of Jacob’s beloved dog for him to realise that Callie is a psychopath, and that’s when the tables turn: Jacob is hell bent on revenge, not just for the life of his dog, but for the unforgivable sin committed by his wife...
