SYNOPSIS:
24 year old Capetonian, Themba, is the star player in the Stormers rugby squad. His father, Mbonisi, owns the world-famous elephant game farm and wildlife sanctuary, Khaya Ndlovu. Mbonisi is also a Keeper of the Stone, a secret alien species with a 1,000-year life span, who derive their super-powers from a mysterious crystal called bloodstone. His mother is human. Themba is a Half-blood, and has no powers.
In England, critical reserves of bloodstone are running dry. Lord Harold Richmond, Prime Tribune of the most powerful of the Keeper Houses, sends his daughter, Lucy, to Cape Town on a secret mission: find out if the legends of African bloodstone are true.
Her target is Themba. Lucy did not bargain on falling in love with Themba. She is torn between the objectives of her Keeper mission, and her growing love for Themba.
Damian Marinos, CEO of the London-based multinational corporation, Minos Technologies, is an insurgent Keeper, set on overthrowing Richmond and taking over the global bloodstone crystal reserves, and purging the planet of humans, who have become too numerous and are now damaging Earth, a planet Keepers regard as their own.
Together with his sociopathic son Gunther, they Induce Half-bloods, which have a unique genetic anomaly that boosts the powers of bloodstone. (The Half-bloods die in the Induction process, but this is of no consequence to Damian). He sends Gunther to Cape Town to capture Themba.
At Khaya Ndlovu, Themba calms a rogue elephant called Nkululeko. Lucy finds out all the Khaya Ndlovu staff are crystal-wearing Keepers, and informs her father in London, where Richmond learns that the last remaining crystal has been stolen from the Keeper vaults.
Gunther attempts to kidnap Themba but didn’t expect Lucy to be there. In the fight, Themba escapes, but Lucy is captured and held hostage.
Themba must exchange his life for Lucy's, or she dies. But if he does, he will become another Half-blood Induction guinea-pig for Damian, and will surely die himself.
Themba's only chance of saving her to takes on the powers of a full Keeper via Induction, but how does he do that without dying?
Themba learns of a secret ancient parchment called the Scroll of Caleb which has a way that Half-Bloods can survive an Induction and become full Keepers. However, the Scroll has been stolen by the evil Ngwenya (Crocodile) clan.
With the help of his friend, Nkululeko, the 7-ton elephant, Themba invades Crocodile Island, fights off the crocs and retrieves the Scroll of Caleb.
Using the Scroll, Themba is Induced, and survives, becoming a fully empowered Keeper.
He 'surrenders' to Gunther, who is holding Lucy hostage. There is a massive fight. Themba, with his new powers, defeats Gunther, who flees. Themba rescues Lucy, but with his powerful new crystal, he's become the prime target of the insurgents.
