Throughout his life, Arnold, was not permitted by his parents and siblings to see the outside world even if only one foot stepped out of the house was not allowed, if Arnold violated the cruel punishment was waiting. Until Arnold's sister, someone who was ignored by the family except by Arnold gave a small clue why Arnold could not see outside even just in his imagination.

SYNOPSIS:

This fantasy mystery movie is inspired from folk songs that were covered by Bob Dylan and The Animals entitled House of the Rising Sun. Started from the main character named Arnold that is known as New Orleans. In Arnold’s house, his mother always sew a clothes. But Arnold never know for whom those clothes are. His father always plays cards alone. In that house also lives her two older sisters and her brothers. However his father and mother said that Arnold had only one brother. Arnold is never care about that. He believes that his father and mother did not wants to admit his brother because his brother had made a mistake. Arnold is always intended to help his brother and sister. But there was only a blank stare from his sister when he offered a help to her that Arnold called as Jena. Arnold is prohibited to go out from his house since his birth. He does not know the reason. He has never know the condition and the circumstance outside. When he just opened the door, he was banned by his parents.

I am really inspired by Andrei Tarkovsky’s film entitled The Sacrifice. The setting of the film is 90 percent inside the home. But my movie will have a setting 100 percent inside the house. Maybe the audience will be bored, but it is very necessary to build the plot of this movie. I will also showed the psychology of the character. The point is I wish I could play and show the fear, anxiety, sadness, and the happiness of the audience. I hope so.

Arnold become stress because he is not allowed just to open the door. He is also not allowed to open the window of her room that are always closed. I realize that this movie can fail because this is an experimental film. But I will not give up. I will make a good dialogue so that the audience will not be bored. I would make The House of the Rising Sun as poem film. It is really different with the film about poem. Poem here is hidden symbols in the frame to frame, and the allusions that are scattered in every players movements. Yes, I am inspired by the films of Sayat Nova by Sergei Parajanov which is full of symbols and meaning. If it can be a real experimental poem film, The House of the Rising Sun is a film that the gesture or a wink of the characters in that house that only four people could be decisive the next scenes. There is no imagination scene here, everything happens in real and natural that will be done by 4 (actually it is 5 including Jane) people in the family. Well, for the following paragraphs we will discuss again the synopsis :)

Arnold who was curious is trying to touch the doorknob but the father shoot him to prevent him to open the door. Fortunately it is not falling under Arnold’s hand. He does not believe that his father would like to kill him just because of he would like to see the outside condition. The door is perforated because of a bullet. The blue light comes over the little hole. When his mother see that, he becomes furious. She tortured sadistic his husband until his father is wailing and asking for forgiveness. His mother says to her husband that because of the hole Arnold could slightly see the outside. Arnold is also punished by his mother who seems to have a higher position than the father. Arnold is isolated in his bed room from the outside. Either the window or the door of his room are soldered and locked. His mother said that Arnold will be locked forever in his room. Arnold feel very sad. Suddenly Jane come to offer him a help. Jane said that he had ever locked up like that in the house and he could leave the house. After that Jane could increase his spiritual life. When Arnold asked what place that makes him like that, suddenly Jane slowly disappear with a smile.

Arnold curious about that. Then he tries to quit from his room with the tools in his room. He does various tricks to be able to break and open the doors and window. First, he breaks the doors carefully. Then he continues to the middle of the door and then the exit door. Arnold did that with good tricks that makes the door that had been broken seems like in a good condition. Arnold has been doing that for 15 years. I am inspired from A Man Escaped by Robert Bresson which later inspired The Shawshank Redemption. The difference is Arnold did the tricks to go out alone and used the tools that was exist in her room while the main character in A Man Escaped, sometimes helped by the people outside the prison. It is actually like Shawshank by Darabont because the tools that was Arnold used was very limited. Arnold also must break 3 doors, the middle door and the exit door were locked by his brother that is very hate him. Each family have the key except Arnold. Arnold tries hard to escape every day. He should back to his room when he has been able to break into the middle or the front door because he was looked by the 3 other family members. It made his heart beat became so fast and I hope it also can make the audience feel like that. So there will be a caution "People with Heart attack disease are prohibited to see this film". Hahaha just kidding. I just want to make the audience tense as if his heart is almost off.

Back to the film, one day his older brother accidentally dropped his keys and Arnold who saw it immediately took the key. It made his father became furious, he tortures his brother for days in the cellar. The moaning of his brother that is very sad makes Arnold almost withdrew because of panic. Finally he decided not to give up because he will see the world outside. He also want to know the reason why he is not allowed to leave the house all his life. From the way of the father in punishing his brother, we can be sure the order position in that house: the mother, father, then his brother and sister. You have to know that the punishment of Arnold’s father to his brother in the barn is not seen by Arnold directly. Arnold just heard from his room about his brother moaning, shouting, the anger from his father and the voice of her mother who actually said "Go ahead! Torment that the sloppy boy!” It makes Arnold frightened and very stressful. Arnold know that his brother was tortured in a warehouse from the feet creak when the father dragged his brother into the warehouse. Because Arnold has ever go to the warehouses and when he stepped in warehouse, there would produce creaks. Those sounds makes him to be more stress and tries to suicide. Fortunately Jane comes and just says a few sentences "Be patient until 3 pm". It makes Arnold be confused but he cannot do anything because only Jane the only person that he can trust.

Then Arnold curious about what the meaning of the 3 pm is. From the old books that other family members hid in a mini library, finally he know that 3 is related to the trinity and 3 pm was the time when Jesus Christ descended in the cross. He did not know Jesus before who were atheist. Fortunately finally Arnold know that Jesus is a Lord of one of the major religions in the world. Now Arnold realizes who his family are. He tries to know the reason why he was locked up in the house. He remembers that one day, when Arnold spotted to open the exit door, his father strangled him and he was almost dead. While his mother struck his head and his brother hit his stomach hardly in many times. Arnold was almost died because of that, but he could be freed from the stranglehold torment of his father, mother and brother. Arnold run into the living room and take his father's gun. He shoots his family members until they all died. Arnold was very excited and sad at the same time. He can see the world outside his house, but he had killed her family. When he is opening the door, Arnold is very surprised when he see the sight behind the door. There is an infinite universe that is light blue and other colors that are very beautiful. Arnold finally realize that he is ..... Ups, it will be a surprise :D
