SYNOPSIS:
Two people working for the billionaire THORNTON WORTHINGTON (40's) are taking in crates full of mysterious artifacts in a warehouse. One worker is caught up by a strange, seemingly demonic force, and killed in an incredibly gruesome manner. The other worker manages to escape with his life. MICHAEL HAWKINS (40's) and JASON WILLILAMS (30's), two L.A.detectives, are put onto the case. These two are experienced in supernatural cases, having solved the case of the serial killer known as the SANDMAN earlier. They start to investigate the origin of the crates inside the warehouse and just who was paying for the shipment. They discover that Thornton Worthington was the one behind the shipments. Meanwhile, Thornton deals with the worker in his own way by killing him for "screwing up." He gathers some fellow art collectors together at his mansion for a special occasion, as he has finally acquired an artifact known as the Mirror of Souls. Together, the group will all attain a higher power unknown to man using this mirror. Thornton and the group embarks on a mystical ritual involving the Book of the Dead, the Necronomicon. However, their bid for power goes horribly awry, as a demon known as MARY comes out of the mirror and not only kills the other collectors, but possesses Thornton's body. Hawkins and Williams arrive at Thornton's mansion just in time to find the billionaire totally covered in blood on the floor. They arrest Thornton and throw him in jail. Hawkins immediately realizes what the great mirror in the mansion is, and what power it holds. At the police station, the detectives try to get the evidence together, but they are interrupted when they are alerted to a commotion going on in the prison. Thornton has morphed once again into the hellish beast, Mary, and is going on a killing spree. The detectives arrive and try to subdue the beast, but it manages to escape. Later, the demon reappears at the USC campus and kills a professor and numerous students. The two detectives interview the only survivor and another professor, KATRINA MORGAN (40's). The detectives also discover a strange connection between Thornton and the slain professor: they are actually brother and sister. The detectives split up and slowly figure out what is going on. As it turns out, Thornton and the professor have two more siblings, one of which is Katrina, and Mary will be targeting both of them in order to suck their lifeforce and become human again. They also find out that the father of these siblings is none other than the serial killer the detectives locked up several years before: the Sandman, CHARLES DOUGLAS (60's). Charles reveals Mary's intentions and how they must send the demon back into the mirror in order to vanquish her. The detectives track down the next target of Mary's at a nightclub. However, they are too late, as Mary arrives and kills her sister, along with numerous others. She tries to go after Katrina, but the detectives manage to escape. They race down the streets of L.A., with the demon in hot pursuit, to get Mary back to the mansion, where they can seal her into the mirror. The final showdown occurs at the mansion between Mary and her summoned minions and a large contingent of the SWAT unit and the LAPD. During the fracas, Katrina is killed by Mary, and she assumes an immortal human form. Williams and Hawkins work together to try to get Mary into the mirror. In the process, Williams is wounded, but Hawkins uses his partner's sacrifice to stab Mary with a mystical dagger and send her back into the mirror. Several days later, everything has gotten back to normal with the case solved. Williams is healing at a hospital and Hawkins is back at work. The Mirror of Souls is broken into four pieces and scattered throughout the globe, hopefully so Mary can never return again
