IN AN INSANE SOCIETY,...
By Jerry Smith

GENRE: Action, Crime
LOGLINE:

An out-of-work teacher frustrated with today's drug problem takes to the streets to teach lessons you will not find in any school book.

SYNOPSIS:

Let me take you back to the pre-fentanyl days of hop-heads and coke whores. A time when four out of five Americans are victimized by crime. Crime generally driven by drugs. Afterwards, they live with the nightmare and frustration of, 'What they would do if given another chance.' Good people contemplate taking the law into their own hands. That's not always wise. Most people don't know the first thing about the drug world except what they see on the 6 o'clock news. But they do know one thing, they are fascinated by it!

It's like the haunted house and freak shows at the carnival. That horror draws them in, but they survive. Yeah, they survive and before they can catch their breath, they're back in line, that same line, just in case they may have missed something that first time around; didn't get scared enough. People are drawn to freak shows; it's just human nature.

'INSANE SOCIETY . . .', is a freak show that takes its audience to the dark side of that reality. It is that ride through the Haunted House; and almost as addictive. It is a high powered, explosive trip that will give people the vicarious pleasure needed to make it through another day. It's the story of Jerry Jurichik, an out-of-work teacher committed to ending today's drug problem.

He's Michael Douglas in FALLING DOWN', with not only more realism to his motives, but to his logical conclusions.

He's Charles Bronson inDEATH WISH' with one major exception; and this is huge, he decides not to wait to become a victim. He acts simply because it's the right thing to do.

As Alexander Hamilton said, "Society's first duty is justice." More and more we hear the masses scream for that justice. In NYC, where the story takes place, the cries are deafening. The `crumbling from within' is well underway.

Jurichik is driven by his thirst for justice. His search for like minds is limitless. Along the way he recruits a Viet Nam vet; a man still bitter about a war he was not permitted to win, a police captain he unknowingly befriends by saving his wife from being raped, a childhood friend now working for the CIA, and a former street punk he adopts and who will ultimately bring him down. This is a period piece; late 70s, early 80s,... that's when I was there
