The Highway is a new action/thriller part based on real events. The story spreads on a timeline of a single day, featuring the condition of survival under extreme circumstance and saving the day. Just like in the Die Hard or the Taken franchises, Matt, our hero, finds himself in a situation where he is forced, singlehanded to take over a band of criminals in extreme situations in order to free his daughter and overthrow their terrorist plot.

SYNOPSIS:

Inspired by true events which took place back in 2006, in Romania, a year before the country’s integration in the EU and a few more recent events and threats coming from Russian officials due to the War in Ukraine, The Highway is now the story of a retired marine, Matt Lipkin, on his way to the South East NATO base of Kogalniceanu to give a lecture on terrorism combat.

Due to his knowledge of Romania being a safe European country and his teenage daughter’s fascination with Dracula and vampires, he takes Alice, along for the trip.

As they set on the road to the Black Sea base, they get caught into the middle of a huge Highway crash, a carnage, caused by the decision of the authorities, due to lack of funds, to burn off the crops around the road just before an European Union commission is due to come for evaluation and their action causing a thick cloud of smoke on a highway without exits.

As a coincidence, a terrorist Russian gang, ex-Warner Group, acting on behalf of Putin’s threats towards surrounding NATO countries, who that same morning broke into an ammunition warehouse and stole a few missiles planning to bomb the Deveselu anti-missile shield base, find themselves into the same spot, in the middle of the calamity.

As Matt is now trying to help the wounded around, the criminals, as they are looking for a way out in order to fulfil their task, hijack his diplomatic SUV, taking Alice along. In a Die Hard manner, Matt sets on to free his daughter from the criminals’ hands and stop the terrorist from destroying the anti-missile shield base.
