After being diagnosed with a brain tumor, Emmy confronts her own mortality as she joins an underground gambling ring called The Death Games.
SYNOPSIS:
After being diagnosed with a brain tumor, EMMY is forced to confront her own mortality as she joins an eccentric group of people in an underground gambling ring called The Death Games. These games see participants create scenarios that have a possibility of death while others gamble on the results. No one wants to die, they simply don't care if they do and each have different reasons for pushing the envelope.
As she befriends a diverse cast of characters including a degenerate gambler, an octogenarian in his last throes of life, a former ex-games star, and the enigmatic founder who continually pushes the games to dangerous new heights, Emmy starts to understand people's multi-faceted take on life and death. All of this leads to the ultimate competition that The Death Games are built around: the annual Russian Roulette tournament. As her medical diagnosis worsens, Emmy finds herself watching new friends hold revolvers to their heads. What she once would have found shocking, Emmy - and the audience - now understand. Death need not be a terrifying figment looming over you but rather something that simply... happens. As her new best friend empties the revolver into his brain - Emmy can't help but to think to herself: "I'm going to die... and I'm okay with that."
