SYNOPSIS:

Six Notch Road is an epic Western in the tradition of The Searchers and True Grit. It is an action-packed, character study and love story that follows the adventures of a Welsh coal miner who pursues the Six Joshua brothers who have killed his wife from the darkness of the Pennsylvania coal mines to the glitter of the California gold mines. Eli Llynne, a Welsh coal miner of immense size but peaceable disposition, is married to Lydia, a gentle woman who abhors violence of any kind. When she and his brother are brutally killed by the Joshua brothers, Eli’s instinct is to seek revenge although he can barely hold a gun and was forbidden by Lydia to have one in his home. Eli’s quest for justice takes him on a sea adventure around the horn of Africa while the Joshua Brothers make their way to California overland. Both journeys are filled with unique adventures and challenges in turbulent times. The Joshua brothers encounter many of the hardships that the befell the adventurers heading west via the Oregon trail during the gold rush, while Eli has to sign on as a ship hand and go by sea around the treacherous, storm ravaged Cape of Good Hope. At sea, Eli is befriended by a ship’s Captain who teaches him the art of gunplay, but admonishes him about the futility of seeking vengeance. Eli dismisses the Captain’s advice and pursues the brothers killing all but one - carving a notch in his gun handle with each kill. He is determined to pursue the last brother to hell and back until he meets Stella O’Brien, a beautiful fandango woman, who turns his thoughts away from his quest, helps him put his gun away and his past behind him. Eli is determined to be a good husband and build a good life with Stella. He does so until the past intrudes and he has to choose between a happy life and the love of a family or continuing a vengeful quest that will lose him all that he has found. It is a painful decision that Eli faces as he considers picking up the gun with five notches - missing the one notch he wanted above all. “His hand trembles as he reaches for the gun.
