An image conscious doctor sets out to solve the 130-year-old mystery surrounding the disappearance of a distant relative, unaware that the shocking solution will be more than he bargained for.
SYNOPSIS:
After the death of his grandmother, an image conscious young doctor, Daniel Chang, first learns of the unexplained disappearance of a distant relative, Nap Sing, 130 years earlier.
Having come to Canada as a migrant Chinese labourer, Nap Sing faithfully sends letters home to China. Five years later, the letters stop. A personal disaster compels Daniel to try to explain why the letters stopped and solve the mystery of Nap Sing's disappearance.
Through the help of Nap Sing's letters, and the assistance of a young female doctor Daniel meets and falls in love with on a trip to China, he finally succeeds in unravelling the mystery.
Although he encounters challenges along the way, Daniel faces his ultimate challenge when he uncovers the truth of the mystery, a truth that crushes his image of affluent and successful man of the world he has worked so hard to create.
Nap Sing, as Daniel will learn, is everything Daniel is not. Can Daniel recognize this truth, acknowledge the truth surrounding Nap Sing's disappearance, and fully embrace the belief that there really are things more important than money?
Here in lies one of the sad ironies of the story; Nap Sing, who had come to Canada in search of greater wealth, lost everything.
