To date, my short screenplay "Spiraling" has won 12 awards , my TV Pilot "The Confidence Men" and the TV Series adaptation "Spiraling" have also both received several awards. In light of the industry completely at a standstill for new production it has been slightly disheartening. "Spiraling" (both the film + TV series pilot/episode 2 written and completed) resonates with a broad audience, especially in the wake of the uptick in suicides, and the recent statistics showing a 93% increase in young adults and adults reaching out for help with depression and anxiety from March-September 2020. 93% increase! "Spiraling" the series and the short are important and while the subject matter seems heavy (and is) it is a hopeful series showing the value of how much we need one another. I hope to see it produced, all of them! The two features I'm writing we already have interest in as well but again, the standstill is causing such a crushing delay in any movement towards selling and production. :( Hope you're all doing well and making through these bizarre and trying times.

When I was 14, I remembered things that happened to me as a child and the trauma was almost unbearable. I attempted to take my own life. I had no idea the promise of the future but I was lost. I’ll never forget seeing my mom at the hospital (not knowing in a year-and-a-half she would be taken from me) but it was seeing my grandfather cry at the thought of losing me that shattered me and made me never went to give in to ever giving up again. Suicide affected several friends I had growing up. Some got involved in gangs, drugs, or came out and weren’t accepted for who they were and they took their own lives—and our youth today is struggling with it more than ever before. That’s why I’m making “Spiraling”. I want to wake the world up about how staggering statistics of suicide really are. The World Health Organization (WHO) projects suicide rates will double by next year going from 1 out of 40 to 1 out of 20 people taking their own lives. This is a real and heartbreaking issue. But I need all of you, those I’ve gone to school with, worked with, and helped along the way to help raise the money. I’m not taking a check for this project but I want to make sure we can pay for all of the permits, crew, and campaigning it will take. Please help us get there and hopefully save someone’s life.

Hi everyone! I wanted to introduce myself. My name is Dawn Garcia, I'm an LA native, and have been working in the entertainment industry for 20+ years. I currently now write for TV and film, and will be directing my first film in the next quarter. I am always looking for more hired work but my passion is story, strong writing, and bringing out emotion.
