When a struggling ghostwriter for motivational speakers is haunted emotionally (then literally) by a lost love, she must find the closure to move on so that her ghost lover can do the same.
SYNOPSIS:
Brenda fell for Emily. Hard. She was Brenda’s first same-sex relationship and her first time in love. But Emily wasn’t ready to get serious and broke it off. Brenda wanted her back but, tragically, Emily became ill and died before they could reconnect. This all but destroys Brenda and starts her drinking too much. What she doesn’t realize is that Emily’s ghost is hovering nearby, watching her go to pieces. The ghost wants to help but, despite several noisy attempts to make contact, Brenda can’t see or hear her. Bummer, right?
Around this time Brenda’s hired to write speeches for a relationship guru, Sharon Steel, to help boost her sagging radio ratings. But writing touchy-feely copy for the ‘love doctor’ is the last thing Brenda wants to do. And Sharon isn’t convinced that this ‘hot mess’ has anything positive to offer her. But, it turns out, Brenda’s bitter thoughts on love bring a welcome harder edge to Sharon’s stale message.
Sadly, all this ‘love talk’ makes Brenda miss Emily even more. She never got to say goodbye to her. Then, thanks to a cosmic portal in Sharon’s Connecticut home, Emily appears! Once Brenda gets over the freak-out of seeing her, Emily tells her she’s pissed. Her spirit complains that she’s stuck in limbo because Brenda won’t let go of her. “Get on with your life,” she pleads, “so I can get on with my after life!”
Meanwhile, the sassier Sharon Steel proves to be a big hit with audiences. And being around the ‘guru of good vibes’ helps Brenda heal her broken heart. That, and the time she spends with the ghost, gives her the closure she was hoping for and the strength she needs to let Emily go.
