SYNOPSIS:
"Escape to the Fields" is a multi-generational family story similar to Secrets & Lies and Boyhood, with several dark twists. Mary Tabor loves the family farm fields, but their family moves into the city after repeated crop losses. At 14, a family friend rapes her, leaving her pregnant. She's sent away to an aunt to have the child that her parents secretly adopt. A few years on, the parents have divorced, and Mary leaves home. Noah, left behind with his alcoholic father, starts drinking far too young. His drinking continues through university to the breakup of his marriage and the loss of his job. He attempts suicide, recovers, then goes to his hometown to reset. There he finds more family secrets, including his own, as his sister Mary winds up in a local hospital with cancer.
