Winning screenplay at Academy Award qualifying film festival.
SYNOPSIS:
“The Jack-O-Lanterns” was a winning screenplay at the Nashville Film Festival (One of the few Academy Award qualifying film festivals. Out of 7,000 film festivals worldwide, only 63 have Oscar-qualifying accreditation).
The last thing 50-something PhD Maggie Withers expected at her age was to get a job as a “rock and roll groupie”. But that’s just what happens when she is hired to reunite a classic rock band for one last gig. First, though, she has to convince its former songwriter/lead singer Jack Bunhill to take the stage one last time. Something he has sworn to never do again. Then, she has to find his old mates and also find a way to soothe their still seething antagonism toward Jack. And lastly, she must find a way to get Alex to meet with his old flame Laura – the girl who burned him years ago (and who also happens to be the one who secretly hired Maggie to get the group back together, for her own nefarious purposes).
