SYNOPSIS:

Wake Up Dead is a mind-bending sci-fi thriller inspired by a book of the same name as well as cutting-edge technology currently being developed in leading research universities around the world.

Our story opens with Mason Brooks, a world renowned sleep scientist and professor at the esteemed Institute for Advanced Studies; where the likes of Einstein were provided the freedom to research and teach advanced theoretical concepts like Einsteins Theory of Relativity.

During Mason’s research, he stumbles upon a discovery that will change his life and the world. While it’s common knowledge in REM sleep we categorize the events, memories, and emotions of days past, but in nonREM sleep, Mason discovered, we categorize the day that is about to unfold.

Mason realizing the immense value and societal implications of his discovery moves his research to his house to perform his research in secret where he builds a technology that can record his dreams but also play them back with vivid imagery. And in turn show him his future well at least the next 24 hours. Mason uses this newly created power to acquire wealth, abundance, and a brilliant beautiful younger wife in Monica.

Monica is a brilliant young scientist who was seduced by Mason’s parlor tricks with his ability to always know what to say, when and how to say it - as if he knew her every thought. Monica comes from a very orthodox patriarchal family where her Father constantly told her that she could not make it in this world without a man by her side. Now guilt ridden for seemingly self-fulfilling her father’s prophetic abuse, Monica struggles with her place in this world and in her marriage to Mason feeling more like a research assistant than an equal partner.

Mason becomes obsessed with his research, consumed by it, when he begins to foresee his own death in his dreams. He becomes further withdrawn from any semblance of life outside of his research including Monica; all else is deemed a distraction. Mason’s death dreams seem to share one common thread, the presence of a complete stranger. When Mason sees this man in his dreams, he is certain to die.

With the help of a private investigator and Mason’s clairvoyance, he is able to identify the mysterious man in his dreams as Paul Fontana.

Paul is an uninhibited playboy with a big gambling problem. Paul doesn’t keep too much in his life that is worth losing other than the restaurant he runs with his Uncle and his prized muscle car, a 1972 Stingray Corvette. The car and the restaurant are just about the only memories left from Paul’s parents who died when he was much younger.

Desperate to solve the mysterious and lethal bond between them, Mason and Monica invite Paul into their home to study Paul’s dreams. Paul reluctantly accepts the arrangement, not believing any of the “pseudo science” and “quackery”, but as an easy way to make some quick cash.

Now under one roof, the three of them must fight through obsession, greed, jealousy, love, and the ever-present specter of death that looms over them both day and night.

Mason’s greed and jealousy drives him to madness and murder as he desperately searches for answers. He sets in motion a murderous plot to rid himself of Paul and Monica while securing any loose ends in an attempt to frame Monica for everything.

The three of them now in a race for survival must learn from their dreams to change their reality before any of them wake up dead.
