SOMETHING IN THE WATER

LOGLINE: When illegal immigrant, Joseph, finds himself washed up on shore he is befriended by local and social outcast Hayley, who takes it upon herself to help him evade the authorities so they can both make a fresh start to a life together.

SYNOPSIS:

Islander and social outcast, Hayley Newman, is a troubled teen at home with her abusive mother Jane and at school with her bullying peers. Her ever-­‐faithful neighbour, William (13), is her only friend. When illegal immigrant, Joseph (18), finds himself washed up on the shore of an Isle of Wight beach with a gunshot wound to his shoulder he is befriended by Hayley who quickly becomes love struck over the exotic young man. Despite the language barrier Hayley decides she will help Joseph evade the authorities so they can both make a fresh start to a life together. But as Josephs condition worsens and Williams reluctance to help wanes, things quickly go from bad to worse for all concerned.
