SYNOPSIS:

Bobby is an educated young African American male who could have had a promising career in corporate America, but he has chosen to live the life of a professional gambler and makes an easy living playing in underground poker tournaments. However, his life is turned upside down after he loses everything in a high-stakes poker game. He even gambles away his most valued possession, a 1967 Mustang, willed to him from his deceased father. Shortly afterwards, he begins to hallucinate about being followed by a strange bearded man. During one of his hallucinations, he follows the bearded man to an ashram and meets Swami Sajjan Phool, affectionately known as “Guru G” by his students. Guru G reveals that they were friends in another lifetime long ago wherein Bobby assisted him when he was destitute. He explains to Bobby that he sent an avatar of himself to follow him and lead him to the ashram as he could see that Bobby was in trouble and headed down the wrong path. Things begin to improve for Bobby after he moves into the Ashram and begins to clean up his life. He falls in love with one of the students and has plans of opening a holistic business of his own.

Unfortunately, he begins to have terrible nightmares. He sees himself on another world fighting to survive as it begins to collapse into a civil war. Desperate for help, he reveals this secret to Guru G who delivers the crushing news. These are visions from his alter ego which resides in another dimension. It is discovered that Bobby has made a pre-birth pack with his alter ego, and as it goes, so does he! His success, in this lifetime, literally depends on the welfare of this other being. Zhanshi, his alter ego, lives on another planet far more advanced than ours, but they adhere to a strict caste system wherein the ruling caste runs everything. For centuries, Zhanshi’s class, the Tongzhe zhi, has been the only class that could own anything. They keep the lower class, the Fuwu, in check through a system of religion and oppression. However, the time has come for change. When the ruler of their planet, Emperor Tong, converts to the religion of the oppressed, he decrees that the entire planet must integrate, and a caste system that has been in effect for a thousand years must be banished.

In typical fashion, the ruling class refuses to give up their power, and the lower class refuses to remain disempowered. Meanwhile, Zhanshi has gotten caught up in the controversy when he defends several teenagers of the lower class against their attackers. This begins a chain of events wherein he realizes that the old system must be dissolved, and that he will choose to remain loyal to the Emperor against the wishes of his parents. They, along with many members of the ruling class in his province, have chosen to defy the orders of the Emperor. Making matters worse, his father is involved in a plot to assassinate the Emperor. As the energy of the planet lowers to the point of chaos and civil war, Bobby must find a way to communicate with Zhanshi and offer his assistance before he is killed. Thus, never allowing Bobby to release his karmic debt and forcing him to a life of permanent despair.
