The owner of a suburban karate school is under pressure to keep the doors open while dealing with his students egos and quirky personalities and what to do with his overly enthusiastic assistant instructor.
SYNOPSIS:
A comedy set in a karate school but based around the relationships and interactions of the owner, the students and his overly enthusiastic assistant instructor.
Paul McKnight is a martial arts instructor by night, by day he is a corporate private investigator. Paul runs the a Karate school that is facing increased competition from local gyms and other schools. It's a place where an unusual assortment of students, black belts and instructors gather on a nightly basis to practice their art and interact with each other in often comical and hilarious ways.
Paul assistant instructor is Gordon, enthusiastic and officious he often rubs people the wrong way. In the pilot episode we see Gordon struggling with a kid's class and being appointed as the Regional Instructor help the other six clubs. This may be a decision that Paul comes to regret because as usual Gordon is going over the top and empire building with his with his new position.
Despite Paul's good intentions the Karate school can be a place of egos, politics and quirky personalities.
A little on the thin side for a logline. I would advise aiming to provide a little more detail regarding the actual story. What's it about? Yes, we know the lead, but what is his goal? What does he want and who/what is directly opposing him? What are the stakes?
If you'd like some additional assistance on writing a logline, I can send you a helpsheet I put together for my clients some time ago. Let me know if you'd like it. My best, Phil
