A fifty-ish African American woman becomes a full-time student, after losing everything in a divorce, and resorts to comical and creative ways to finance her education to fulfill her dream of becoming a writer.

SYNOPSIS:

Meet Ebony Robinson, the money-making hustle expert. She drives for Uber and at $40 a pop she donates her blood and often gets woozy walking to class. She participates in sleep studies, and then there’s that lactose intolerance study that declares war on her colon but pays $1700.

On her college campus, Ebony fights to fit-in as an older student and runs into a variety of issues socially, against the backdrop of technology. In the PILOT EPISODE, the most pressing issue is, in order to graduate on time, she needs a class in the current semester that is already full. This is where the university president’s son Jason comes in. Ebony recognizes Jason in one of her classes as the Uber passenger who was insanely drunk at a party at singer Chris Brown’s house. He was having a barf session when someone pointed him out to the media, KTLA News, and an aggressive reporter and his cameraman close in on him. Ebony sees this, and thinking of her own son, she help’s Jason by pretending to be his mother even though he is Jewish and she is Black. She saved him from embarrassing his father and the university, while the KTLA cameraman thinks she's sexy. In exchange for her save, Ebony asks Jason to give up his seat in the class she desperately needs. After several attempts to dodge her, he agrees to withdraw from a class so that she can have his seat and stay on schedule for graduation. Except he doesn’t withdraw and she ends up chasing him around campus. This is one of many zany episodes and predicaments that Ebony Robinson finds herself in, as she matriculates through college as a 50yr old, to reinvent her life as a writer. She uses comedy, maturity and life experience to maneuver, manipulate and navigate college while discovering the capability of technology and her destiny to write, by any means necessary.
